I would argue that one of the best places to live in Downtown Toronto if you're an active/sporty person (like me) is Regent Park.
Not only do you have the Don Valley to use as your outdoor playground for walking, hiking & biking (some great mountain bike trails are located there!) but you also have access to the Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre which was purpose-built for the Pan-Am Games but now available for public use.
On top of this, you also have access to the Regent Park Athletic Grounds which features a full-size soccer field with a 400 metre running track around the perimeter, a full-size hockey rink that doubles as pickle-ball court in the summer, a full-size basketball court and a ping-pong table.
What makes these facilities truly amazing is that they are completely free, available to anyone to use & open 24 hours a day with ample lighting at night.
This is a fantastic way to foster a sense of community as it provides an outlet for children, adults & elders to stay fit and gather together in a safe space.
There are various pick-up games & organized leagues that also play from here so you're never short of activities to join.
I'd love to hear what your favourite activity to do at Regent Park Athletic Grounds is in the comments below!
